The Call for Equipping

Easter Sunday was such a fantastic and memorable moment for Kingship. It was such a blessing to see so many volunteers focusing on making that day about serving others, and what was even more rewarding was seeing stories of God unfolding in the hearts of people; some who were returning to church after years of brokenness in relationships to those who just found themselves at McMenamins that day and got to hear the gospel.

We have come a long way and God has certainly brought us to this point where we are seeing more fruit as a church than ever. However, our faith in Christ assures us that His harvest is even more plentiful. While the workers are few, this should not discourage us but compel us to faithfully strive to press on with even greater effort.

This spring we are moving forward with more of our vision to see us become a greater church that equips all for the Kingdom of God. Here are three major things to get excited about.

In our effort to make disciples it is important to encourage practical interactive experiences that encourage disciples making other disciples. This is an important component of being a disciple of Christ, yet often overlooked as essential to one’s spiritual growth. We have to engage the gospel with others just as it was at one point engaged with us. Our church’s application steps (bless, eat, learn) for evangelism include the action of learning Jesus with one another. This can be scary and also so open ended you don’t know where to begin. Don’t worry, starting in April we are doing this together. As a church wide focus we are encouraging everyone to take the initiative of being in a one on one study with another. We have some great studies and resources that will be available starting this Sunday as well as training on how to initiate learning from Jesus with others. This is about being a church that equips.

We are also excited to announce that we are now moving forward in expanding our staff at Kingship. This January we hired an admin and are currently looking to externally hire a worship lead for the planned increase in ministry activity. These roles will provide further avenues for equipping and training in ministry.

In the month of May we will be bringing in a relational expert and therapist to help facilitate a workshop focused on resolving the internal questions that are primal to our emotional needs. This is a big component in tackling the identity crisis of today’s culture. This will be a great entryway event to help others begin to find healing with Jesus as well as fruitful spiritual growth within ourselves. We are encouraging everyone to participate in inviting others and being part of the event on May 18th. We will also be hosting small groups immediately after as a follow up to the event. These will be open groups to families, couples, and individuals to join together as we biblically equip ourselves to find our identity in Christ even further.

Easter has been a monumental occasion for us as a church but the church does not end with the resurrection… it begins. We hope you will see the importance of our mission to equip all and continue to be in a church planting mindset focused on reaching others for the Kingdom of God.
