Recently, my newest born son has taken it upon himself to have a growth spurt. Adorable outfits I have fallen in love with no longer fit. Not only is he now standing and walking, but climbing and jumping which means the knees of his pant legs now have holes in them. It might be time to invest in a new set of clothes.
Kingship Church is right there with my son Hezekiah. It is entering its toddler stage as a church. Kingship is growing and the clothes we wear, like our building, are starting to feel snug. This is a good thing. As we continue in our mission to equip all for the Kingdom of God, the outpouring of physical growth is an evident fruit that we can celebrate.
However, my toddler isn’t just growing physically but mentally. Words are forming faster than I can keep up. His comprehension is astounding. Equipping all has never been about growing solely in numbers but also growth in maturity. Kingship is growing up and maturing in the image of Christ. After all, this is exactly what we mean when we say we desire to equip. We want to see all men and women, children and grandparents be activated into a journey of spiritual maturity with a heart and desire for the things of God.
2025 was a year of growth for Kingship. However, the growth God laid out for the year was difficult to see unless you were looking at it with the right kind of lens. Much of the year was consumed by the securing of a loan for our building property in our name. There were many difficult decisions we had to make financially, but the result of that was Kingship being able to say we were are the owners of our own building. It was a long process, but we are truly thankful for our angel investor who gave us the opportunity to be here. We feel the blessing given to Kingship as such a young church plant.
I must confess though. Words I wish I could take back during this season of behind the scenes work were,
“I just want to get back to ministry”.
The truth is God was doing ministry, I was just looking with the wrong kind of lens.
While financial red tape took the better half of the year, we were seeing further commitment by new families towards the mission and vision of the church. Life changes were happening for people we got to be present for. In a season of trying to secure our future, God sent us church planters in need of encouragement for the tough road ahead of them. Ministry was happening but we needed to see 2025 as a year of preparation for what God has in store.
In the Bible, King Hezekiah was dealing with a similar lens issue. The lesson in maturing is seeing we are on God’s timeline. Here is the Lord’s promise to Hezekiah:
“And this shall be the sign for you: this year you shall eat what grows of itself, and in the second year what springs from that. Then in the third year sow and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.
Isaiah 37:30
God’s pattern is first to teach us to depend and see the evidence of His faithfulness. Then comes a season of teaching us patience. And when the harvest is ready, work diligently out of that rooted and built up faith for the abundance God has for you.
When the ownership of our property was finalized this year, we realized it gave us great freedom to be able to respond to what God calls for next. This was a crucial step in making our future vision possible. The vision God has given us is to see Kingship double the size of its gathering space by 2027. We firmly believe that it is God who grows His Church; both in numbers and sanctification. New clothes for the growth in equipping. We are trusting His faithfulness in which we have witnessed and preparing for a harvest that reflects His pattern.
Part of being an equipping church is providing resources to help people come to Christ and mature in Him. Even though we felt bogged down by the building loan, our vision of equipping all was still playing out. We stand amazed at what we accomplished.
We just saw the first duration of our Discover Jesus events; a live Q&A and exploration into who Jesus is.
We just formed our first evangelism book, “Pursued” which is now ready to be implemented by the church body.
Our Kids ministry is in the middle of our milk&meat curriculum that we built in house and finished in 2025. We plan to release and make available for free for other church plants.
All of these are little waves right now that in faith will have a ripple effect for the years ahead.
So here is what you can specifically do in the coming year…
The second year is about working with what has happened the year before.
The fruit of securing our building is now about the faithful act of setting a course for how the resource will be used in the future and faithfully giving for the growth God has set for 2027. Also, the assembling of equipping resources means we now need to share and use these resources.
So first, would you prayerfully consider giving to Kingship’s Vision at large. Trusting God first together for the future we see Him laying out. Perhaps this looks like giving a one-time gift at the end of the year showing the bank that we are a faithful body to the resources God gives and we are preparing for a greater future. Or consider committing to being a monthly giver in the coming year.
Second, download “Pursued”. Give it a read and invite a friend to coffee to walk through the six different topics of how God is chasing after you. Because whether you give or not, we value in equipping you in a relationship with God.
Thank you for your generous giving!
I am hopeful of what God has instore for Kingship in the coming years. I pray that He will bring us together to equip all for the Kingdom of God and mature us in the process.
In Christ
