Exterior Phase of the Kingship Building

Over the summer there has been some major headway towards the next steps with our building in downtown Hillsboro. A lot has been accomplished in less than a year since opening and we are hoping to continue that momentum with our attention now on the exterior of the building. We have been through the construction and permit process before, so it is no surprise of how long it takes to see progress with some of these tasks. In the meantime, we have been focused on establishing our church culture, strengthening relationships, and equipping our church to be one that shares the gospel relationally. We are now also starting to see the beginnings of our missional focus to equip men and tend to the modern orphans and widows. This year’s Father’s Day saw a direct response to that passion, as we were able to help single mom’s directly during some transitions.

As we have been diligent to save up the necessary funds, our current goal in cleaning up the exterior of the building is to create a positive presence in the community and to create a more welcoming environment that encourages doing life together. Already we have made some headway with our back courtyard, thanks to some dedicated volunteers who designed and built our new outdoor place. The project brought in neighbors and friends intrigued in helping to build the planters and benches. Power tools certainly can bring men together and create opportunities for meaningful conversations and moments. People stepped up to the task, making it possible for Kingship to be blessed with a final product beyond what we could have financially reached. The environment was near impossible for installation; so thank you to those that worked extra hard on Saturday and stayed late so that the space was ready for our Kick-off BBQ the next morning.

We hope the courtyard will provide more opportunities to do life together; with a High School group life quick to make plans to put it in use.

Next up, we hope to see the building get a new coat of paint that brings out Kingship’s color palette and new signage that helps identify Kingship’s presence. Continue to pray that the process and work goes smoothly and that we are responsive to what God has for us as we get there.
