Equipping Families for the Joy of God's Word

Trying to create a family culture of being in the bible together isn’t without its challenges. The Family Bible Study project was formed out of our passion to see the family strengthened by engaging in the study of God's Word at home.

To succeed in this takes all of the church learning to do this together. These set times and events where we gather together, not only provides you support and coaching on how to lead your family, but your children also see and experience a community that values and prioritizes God’s Word - reinforcing what is happening at home.

Find ways for God's Word to capture the eye of your children.

Hearing the Word of God is important and visually seeing Scripture provides support. With our little ones this might look like find a picture bible to using typography to capture the attention of our preteens. Having our kids draw what they hear or  journal their thoughts can help bring them to a better understanding of scripture and the ability to articulate what they are learning and understand.

The Bible is not just a collection of books, it is God's Story with Jesus as the central focus throughout the Old and New Testaments. Take time to know the central themes through scripture and try to draw back to those often in your discussions.

Its great if everyone finds time to have their personal bible reading time or reading the bible to each child before bed. But also make sure to read Scripture together. This goes for you adults too. Sharing in the hearing of God's Word and having our kids take turns reading out loud emphasizes the importance of sharing it with others.
